Winter 2019-2020 at Crafnant House

A holiday in France!

Following a fun and busy season we got Bryn sorted with a Pet Passport and headed to France for a week of well-deserved rest and relaxation!

He was so good on the long journey, and most intrigued by the huge Eurotunnel train as it was nothing at all like the steam train he went on in October!

Best B&B in North Wales?!

In November we were delighted to be shortlisted by Go North Wales Tourism for the best B&B / Inn of the Year award.

Though we didn’t win we were chuffed to be recognised and had a great evening!

A few weeks later we also received our updated rating of 9.9 from booking.com - that our guests mark us so highly really means a lot to us and is a fantastic reward for the effort we put into making sure everyone has the best time at our B&B!

Hikes in Eryri | Snowdonia

During December we enjoyed a stunning (very cold!) walk at Cwm Idwal in the Ogwen valley in Eryri | Snowdonia - one of our many favourites and especially beautiful on such a crisp sunny day.

Later in the month Bryn enjoyed his first Christmas with us - though he wasn’t very helpful decorating the tree!!

Christmas and New Year

He had a special New Year treat in January, meeting up with lots of his brothers, sisters and cousins at a doggie playtime organised by his breeder at Tatton Park.

To see 20 or so happy, beautiful retrievers all running and splashing about together was very special indeed!

Improvements to the B&B

We also did quite a bit of work in the house over the winter to further enhance our guests’ comfort.

This included new showers and heated mirrors in all our shower rooms; new carpet in the dining room and snug; beautiful teak mid-century G-Plan furniture for the snug from our friends at Roberts & Astley on Anglesey; and a more traditional style floor in our hallway and kitchen expertly fitted by Rhos-on-Sea Carpets.

The original floorboards we uncovered when we took the hall carpet up are beautiful but far too draughty to leave exposed!

They’ve been safely preserved though underneath the new floor. The hall was topped off by a fabulous teal and gold 1960s/70s hotel reception sign from The Old Auction Rooms in Llandudno.

Short break in the Peak District… and marmalade!

In February we had a few days away in the Peak district, catching up with friends and enjoying several walks in this beautiful landscape.

Bryn experienced his first tunnels on the Monsal Trail - he was a bit confused by the echoing!

Once home again we made the most of the Seville orange season by making many jars of marmalade for our guests to enjoy over the coming season!

We hope you all had a restful Christmas and New Year and we look forward to welcoming guests back to Crafnant House this year!
